Saint Patrick's Cathedral

Built in 1858 and oped in 1879 when Archbishop John Hughes wanted to build a new Cathedral for the city. It is known for its architecture as a cross shaped building. Located on Fifth avenue in New York. 87,120 squared feet in area. 

 The cathedral was built in honor of the patron saint of Ireland. When originally purchased, It was originally to be a university, a Jesuit university. It was designed by James Renwick in Gothic style architecture. Constructed beggin in 1858 but was stopped temporarily during the civil war. Recently the cathedral is under a $175 million dollar renovation. And is currently under construction.
