Rockefeller Center

Also known as the heart of Midtown Manhattan, the prominent Rockefeller Center was constructed during the absolute worst years of the Great Depression. It had officially opened its doors in May of 1933 and was built and said to have the intention of being the greatest plaza in the world. It was to be filled with art, culture, music and history. John D. Rockefeller, a rich tycoon with an oil business wanted the Center to be know as a City with in a City. and today we know it as just that.

Today the plaza is situated between 48th street and 51st street, and contains 14 on site buildings and 19 commercial buildings. all of this in only 22 acres of concrete . Today the area is knwon for its annual traditions at Christmas time: the famous Rockefeller Christmas tree, the Radio City Music Hall Spectacular, and the world famous Rockette Dancers.
